Aftermarket Assistance: Automotive Repair Garage Insurance

By Angela King

After your children, your car is one of the most demanding pieces of machinery you will happen to own. Of course this varies person to person. And with people working just about as anything. When their car decides to throw a tantrum it can get pretty difficult to stop. Luckily there is automotive repair garage insurance, people who help with that very thing car doctors or mechanics as they are more commonly known.

It is best to know how your car works. With that said, no one is expecting you to know the firing number of your cylinders and the exact moment when combustion happens after you turn the key to start the car. In this instance, Google is your friend as the times have moved past the thick manuals that need to be read. Part of your responsibility as someone in need of a trustworthy mechanic is keeping them honest and it is easier to do that if you have some knowledge of what s going on regarding your car.

No one likes to be ripped off so it is important to do your research. Have a basic understanding of how much a spark plug costs for example so in the event you approach a mechanic they do not try take advantage of you and charge you R300 for a part that usually cost R30. Also be weary of additional costs, don t find yourself paying for a 2 hour service fee when all it took to repair your car was 30 minutes.

Specialisation is key. If the shop specializes in a particular model or manufacturer of cars, chances are they are your best bet, provided they are accredited of course. Not only is this a sign that the mechanic knows what they are doing but one avoids the risk of sending their car to a mechanic who will perform trial and error with regard to fixing their car.

Start small, tire rotation and oil changes. It s the little things that matter. If you feel like you were treated professionally and the service you received was exceptional for the service than it might be a good idea to go back.

But what you should know are whether or not they give you quotations on how much it is to fix something and whether that quotation is free? Whether or not they are accredited and if so, what type of cars to they happen to specialise in? Also, take note of the customer service your given.

Look for what types of affiliations the mechanic is with. This is because organisations such as the AA and the like will have strict code of conducts and procedures in order to ensure the business is reputable and deserving of their affiliation.

Looking for a trusted car mechanic can be difficult, especially if you know nothing about it and where to start. And a good thing too, no one wants to reinvent the wheel when a trusted mechanic can fix it
