Good Things About VW Kubelwagen Parts

By Edward Howard

No matter that parts for them are no longer manufactured and that they belonged to and older and simpler tech era, but many old VWs are still running. Volkswagen aficionados have made their passion for the brand work for them. Tech for cars of that era was all about German knowhow for creating the most efficient and advanced machines that lead most everyone else in the world.

The retro fever has caught up with people who like driving vintage war machines on the streets. VW Kubelwagen parts addresses this need for collectors who want their units to look good as new in their original design. Some good research online can get you the best kinds of modern components for these excellent and versatile cars.

The Kubelwagen type 82 of 1943 was a mainstay of the Wehrmacht, and the basic design is still very efficient today. The Volkswagen folks knew their car engineering and designed a car that could have many uses, and useful for many types of road or offroad conditions. Just looking at the model today will tell you that it had the same uses as the latter day HUMVEEs.

There are many modern values present in vintage German cars of this kind, things like ergonomics, accessories and fuel economy. Aficionados all over the planet know these values with their collected German automobiles that have excellent engineering. The price values for these are good, and market value goes up for rarer units that come complete.

The vehicles that are remodeled are not complete but may retain the biggest body parts from an old unit. These will probably be the axles, gearboxes, chassis, and the engine that ran on 24.5 Hp. Units that were stored and rusting in garages are often without tires, doors, windows, lamps and other accessories.

However, the Volkswagen company is not without its own collection of vintage pieces, original moulds, and even original manuals. And some of the best restorers and independent parts makers can have a working agreement with the company. They are able to access original accessories and items of all kinds from the company and replicate them for enthusiasts.

It will be great for Kubelwagen enthusiasts who are contracting for a remodel. The original dashboard can be replicated as if it were the 40s, from odometers to pod switches for the split dash. The restorers can lathe, machine and mould all the necessary parts so there is no difference between the restored and original.

These are early days for the collector binge for this particular model. The HUMVEE was never made into a civilian vehicle, only similar looking types were. What enthusiasts want are the real thing, the ones that were driven on roads during the 40s, and the Kubelwagen is a new entry that joins models like the American made Willys MB jeep type, which is the oldest known SUV.

The car in question is something that many like to have, but not all can be accommodated. And this makes collecting this unit that much more valuable. However, there might be manufacturers that can build a facsimile from the ground up.
